Tokyo Ikuei Japanese Language School Scholarship

1. Chancellor's Special Scholarship Program

This scholarship is provided by the President of Tokyo Ikuei Japanese Language Institute to encourage outstanding international students to pursue their studies in Japan.
The scholarship is intended to encourage students to concentrate on their studies in order to achieve their goals, such as entering a Japanese university or graduate school.
The recipients are expected to become a bridge to Japan in the future.

PeriodOne year from the first year of enrollment

  • Possibility of receiving the next year’s benefit based on the first year’s status.
TermsThose who meet the following conditions 1 and 2

  1. Those who plan to enroll in a regular course at Tokyo Ikuei Japanese Language School.
  2. Persons with outstanding abilities who meet one of the following criteria
    ・Those who have achieved excellent results in their home country.
    (Those who have achieved a certain level of performance in the examinations set by the government.)
    ・Persons with special skills
    (Those who have received awards in sports, culture, arts, etc.)
    ・Persons specially approved by the President
Amount of money¥20,000 per month (including transfer fee)

  • Transfer to your bank account on the 25th of each month

Scholarship Program for Students with Superior Academic Achievements

This scholarship is awarded to students who have achieved outstanding academic results at Tokyo Ikuei Japanese Language School.
The scholarship is intended to encourage students to concentrate on their studies in order to achieve their goals, such as entering a Japanese university or graduate school.
It is expected that international students who receive the scholarship will be accepted into their target higher education institutions.

PeriodFrom the second year of enrollment to graduation
TermsThose who meet the following conditions 1 and 2

  1. Those who are currently enrolled in a regular course at Tokyo Ikuei Japanese Language School
  2. Students who have excelled in their studies at Tokyo Ikuei Japanese Language School and meet all of the following requirements
    ・Good attendance
    (More than 95 percent year-round)
    ・Those who have achieved excellent results in the Achievement Test
    (Test results above 90 percent)
    ・A person who is working hard in his or her studies
    (Judged by class attitude, submission of homework, quiz results, etc.)
Amount of money¥20,000 per month (including transfer fee)

  • Transfer to your bank account on the 25th of each month
The number of peopleNot to exceed 10% of enrolled students
SelectionThe selection process will be determined by the following procedures.

  1. Students who wish to apply for a scholarship should apply to their homeroom teacher.
  2. Each homeroom teacher reviews the terms and conditions of each student who applies.
  3. Each homeroom teacher recommends the appropriate student to the chief academic officer.
  4. The relevant students will be discussed by the Academic Affairs Council to determine who will be selected.
  5. Submit the documents of the students selected by the Academic Affairs Council to the Chancellor.
  6. The President makes the final decision on scholarship recipients.
LapseScholarship awards will be revoked for students who meet any of the following conditions.

  1. Significant drop in attendance (attendance rate below 90 percent in the past month)
  2. Poor achievement test results (test results below 80 percent)
  3. Not engaging in academic work with a sincere attitude (judged by class attitude, submission of homework, quiz results, etc.)

Scholarship for higher education

This scholarship is awarded to students who have been accepted and enrolled in a university or graduate school designated by the University.
The scholarship is awarded as a result of their efforts in passing the entrance exam for the difficult-to-enter universities and graduate schools.
It is expected that international students who receive this scholarship will be able to devote themselves to their studies and become internationally active human resources.

TermsStudents who have been accepted and enrolled in a university or graduate school designated by the institute and meet the following conditions.

  1. Those who are currently enrolled in a regular course at Tokyo Ikuei Japanese Language School
  2. Students who have excelled in their studies at Tokyo Ikuei Japanese Language School and meet all of the following requirements
    ・Good attendance (at least 95 percent throughout the year)
    (95 percent or more throughout the year)
    ・Those who have achieved excellent results in the Achievement Test
    (Test results above 90 percent)
    ・A person who is working hard in his or her studies
    (Judged by class attitude, submission of homework, quiz results, etc.)

End-of-term exam reward system

The foreign student with the highest score in the Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels, as well as the foreign student whose score has increased the most since the previous test, will each receive 10,000 yen.

Scholarships for Privately Financed International Students (7450 students)

Scholarship for privately-funded international students with excellent results in JLPT Level 1

The number of peopleApplicants must have taken the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) Level 1 in Japan and scored high on the test. Applicants must be enrolled as a regular student in a graduate school, university, or junior college in April of the following year in a department or faculty related to Japanese language, literature, or culture.

Kyoritsu Maintenance Scholarship Fund (25 students)

Student Residences

In order for international students to have a safe and enjoyable study abroad experience and for their parents in their own country to feel at ease, we will introduce student dormitories. Please fill out the “Student Dormitory Application Form” and “Agreement Form” and submit them to the school by the designated date.
The number of rooms is limited, so if there are too many applicants, the school will hold a lottery.
